In fact, Aditya's parents have already made it known publicly that they are against their son divorcing his wife whom they adore. Which, indirectly, means that if Aditya's marries Rani, he will have to do so against his parents' wishes.

It is speculated that Aditya's shift from his father's home is a prelude to his impending marriage with Bollywood star Rani, with whom he has been having an affair for a long time, according to sources.

A rumour has been also doing the rounds since Sunday that Aditya had, in fact, given the actress an engagement ring a day earlier when both met secretly at the hotel where he has been staying.

Though none close to the Chopras would confirm the rumour, but the fact that Aditya's petition seeking divorce from his first wife, Payal, was granted after the mandatory grace period of six months last week, lent teeth to the speculation.

"I am afraid, I will not be able to comment on the private life of my client. Moreover, I have no inkling of the exchange of engagement rings between Aditya and Rani Mukherjee. My client does not keep me informed about his private affairs," Gopal Pandey, long-time publicist of Yash Raj Films, told us.

As a matter of fact, in deference to the reputation of Yash Raj Films, especially the position filmmaker Yash Chopra holds in Bollywood, none came forward to comment one way or the other on the "impending" Aditya-Rani marriage, which, without confirmation, has remained a rumour.

Over the last few years, Rani has been seen in quite a few films made by Yash Raj Films, being handled by Aditya. She featured in 'Hum Tum', 'Veer-Zaara', 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' and 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag'.

Bollywood Gossip - Manisha Koirala, the new item girl!
Monday, March 3, 2008
Guess who is sizzling in an item number for Telugu film ‘Nagaram’? It is the 37-year-old royal beauty from Nepal, who has once been voted as the most beautiful actress of the Bollywood - Manisha Koirala.

It is not unusual today for successful heroines to appear in a guest role or an item number crossing linguistic borders. Those are bygone days, when a heroine had to worry for her 'image' before taking up such roles.

However, that be, it is quit hard to believe that the actress who did serious bollywood movies like ‘Bombay’, ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Dil se’ under the directions of giants like Maniratnam, Sanjay Leela Bansali etc and nominated six times for the Filmfare award, is doing an item number.

Since 90's though there have been many such heroines from the Bollywood attempting to win the hearts of the viewers at south, all of them have not easily been accepted here. But very few of them certainly made an impact. Talents like Tabu, Ash and Manisha Koirala have created a special aura as well as a pretty circle of fans for themselves.

It is not a long way back; Manisha had impressed the south with bollywood blockbusters like ‘Bombay’, ‘Indian’, ‘Mudalvan’ etc. She even reined the Indian cinema for almost a period of 8 years. The dazzling beauty has a diploma in film making from U S A and is a member of the Independent film makers’ society.

Lovers vs locals: No love lost
VAISHNAVI C. SEKHAR

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, MARCH 27, 2004 12:00:32
AM ]

MUMBAI: When d residents of Bandra Reclamation
recently got together 2 talk about their new
waterfront promenade, they decided 2 draw up n list
of do's n dont's 4 d area.

Top of d list of dont's was "indecent behaviour",
otherwise known as Cuddling Couples.

"We discussed dat extensively," recalls Vidya Vaidya, a
member of Bravo, d residents' desi masala mallu indian actressociation, "but we
couldn't come 2 n consensus on what constituted
indecent behaviour." Some residents, especially the
older ones, felt tat even handholding was
unacceptable in public, while others, like Vaidya,
felt tat they had no business 2 intervene even if
couples were kissing.

For as long as anyone can remember, couples have been
canoodling on d city's waterfronts
from Marine
Drive, where they are spaced out on d sea wall with
remarkablemathematical precision, 2 Juhu beach, where
they seek private nooks away from d main chowpatty.
But every few years, d police round up couples for
"indecent behaviour", sparking off n outrage.
In d three new waterfronts in d city in the
prosperous western suburb of Bandra, tis  s n more
contentious issue as d promenades are regulated by
d local residents. "Frankly, when dat goes beyond
hugging n hand-holding, dat becomes embarrdesi masala mallu indian actressing to
take our parents n children 2 d promenade," says
Jayanti

Shukla, n Reclamation resident. Bandstand resident
Shalini Vadra s only 30, but feels tat 2 even look
out of d window in d evenings s difficult. She
adds tat their waterfronts can't b compared to
Marine Drive or even d Worli Seaface, because those
promenades abut major roads not residences.

However, Arup Sarbhadikari, of d Bandra Bandstand
Residents Desi masala mallu indian actressociation, says there are no complaints
against couples, only "antisocial elements". "We're
not bothered about d lovers on d rocks, but we
don't want prostitution 2 flourish under d guise of
freedom," he says, adding tat tis  was n issue
before d waterfront was developed into d promenade
it s today
paved, landscaped n guarded.

" d strong family presence makes dat n very decent
area," he adds.

Even so, s moral policing justified when couples have
such little personal space in d city? Mumbai has one
of d lowest open space ratios in d world - 0.03
hectare per 1,000 persons - n extended families are
often cramped up in chawls n matchbox apartments.

"I'm forced 2 come here wit my girlfriend because I
don't have anywhere else 2 go," points out n Santa
Cruz teenager, who lives in n small flat wit his
parents n sister, "It costs me at least n few
hundred bucks 2 go 2 d cinema. that 's either
Bandstand or n coffee shop."

d moral police might castigate such behaviour as
"westernisation", along wit Valentine's Day, but as
Citispace member Neera Punj points out, d so-called
family-oriented Hindi movies are much more vulgar.
"These are human needs, 2 hold hands, 2 love
someone," she says.

Often people come from distant suburbs like Mulund and
Vashi 2 enjoy these spaces, suggesting there s some
parochial bias in d complaints. "This s a
middle-cldesi masala mallu indian actress area, wit mostly families n senior
citizens. When outsiders come here, they cross the
line n dat doesn't gel wit d ethos of d place,"
says Shukla.

In n sense, as d waterfronts attract n cross-section
of n rapidly changing society - teenagers and
grandmothers, 'bais' n businessmen, insiders and
outsiders - they all collide in d same space.
